When you give EditDNA a reference, it measures the edit: where the cuts fall, how long each scene runs, and — where enabled — how the picture is framed. Those measurements are numbers.

Your version is then built entirely from your own footage, arranged to that timing. Nothing from the reference appears in your export.

• The reference’s footage or any frame of it
• Its audio, music, or voice recording
• Its captions or on-screen text
• Its watermark, logo, branding, or handle
• The creator’s name or identity

Exports from EditDNA are currently silent. Reference audio is never extracted, stored, or re-exported.

Only use references you are allowed to access. By submitting one you confirm you have permission to view and analyse it.

EditDNA does not download from platforms it is not authorised to. If you paste a link we cannot legitimately fetch, we save the link and ask you to upload the file yourself — we will not work around a platform’s access controls, and we will not point you at a service that does.

Using EditDNA is not a determination that your result is lawful. Editing structure — pacing, framing, rhythm — is generally not what copyright protects, but that is a general statement and not advice about your situation.

We do not promise your output is fair use, non-infringing, or safe to publish anywhere. Copying a distinctive edit closely enough that it reads as someone else’s work can still cause you problems that have nothing to do with copyright — with a platform, an audience, or the creator. That judgement is yours.

If a result matters commercially, get advice from someone qualified to give it. We are not.

Contact us through support with enough detail to identify the material and your relationship to it. We will look into it and can remove content and suspend accounts.
